Special Events

Annual Awards Banquet - Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Livingston Jr. High School. Serving started at 5:30 pm and the actual banquet began around 6:00 pm. Reconginze outstanding citizens --- Polk Countian of the Year and 5 Community Awards.

Come Clean Lake Livingston - 2011 was the "first annual" community wide lake clean-up event, including Polk, Trinity and San Jacinto counties. 2012 event was held on Saturday, March 31st.

Diva Night - Annual women's event which benefits county-wide organizations that benefit "women and children in crisis" --- includes SAAFE House, Childrenz Haven and CASA in the Pines. 2012 event is scheduled for Thursday, April 12th at the VFW Hall.

Business After Hours

In 2012 BAH will be held quarterly at 5;30 pm and will be a co-op setting, which allows for 4-5 businesses to participate jointly in sponsoring the event: Tuesday -- February 28th at the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe; Tuesday -- May 22nd at Livingston HS; Tuesday -- August 21st at Chic Boutique; and Tuesday -- November 27th at the Bradford at Brookside.

Quarterly Membership Luncheons with programs to update and inform the membership about products, services and activities in our community. This year the luncheons are scheduled for March 20th, June 19th and September 18th; with programs: Made in Polk County, Clubs & Organizations of the County, and Healthcare in Polk County.
Learning Lunch - We offer a variety of subjects; such as QuickBook training & Microsoft, geared towards helping our local businesses succeed --- non-Chamber members are welcome to attend also.

Eco-Tourism - Encouraging businesses and promoting the area for bird watching, boating, canoeing, etc. Developed the following:
Birding brochure for Polk County
Birding maps for State of Texas - working to get lake Livingston included on Texas Parks and Wildlife birding maps.
Piney Wood Lakes Chapter of Texas Master Naturalist (including Polk, Tyler, and San Jacinto Co.)
Lake Livingston State Park - partner in joint effort to develop the State Park to its full potential. This will help increase sales tax revenue to the area.

Prize Patrol - Balloons and candy delivered to Chamber Members to just to say "Thanks!" The first Chamber member is drawn randomly and then 3 other businesses in the immediate vicinity are selected for recognition --- photo goes in the newsletter and a business card size ad goes in the newsletter when they return their survey card.
Women Interested in Networking Opportunities - This is a new program for 2012 which provides an avenue for wormen to network and create a mentoring program for young women in the workforce. Meeting quarterly --- noon on January 5th, evening on April 5th at Crystal's, noon on July 5th at Jalisco's Texas Pepper and evening of October 4th at Sydney Murphy's home.
